What is Shipcheck?+
Shipcheck is a Chrome extension that checks the page you already have open. It flags accessibility (WCAG) failures, AI-crawler blocks, titles, share previews, headings, images, links, and more — then lists what to fix before you ship or hand off.
Does it help with ADA and European Accessibility Act requirements?+
Yes. Pro runs a full automated WCAG 2.2 A/AA audit on the live page using the open-source axe-core engine. WCAG AA is the benchmark usually referenced for ADA web accessibility and the European Accessibility Act. Each issue comes with the WCAG criterion, a plain-English fix and a code snippet; Pro outlines failing elements on the page and generates an Accessibility Statement. Automated checks catch a large share of issues but not all, so pair it with a quick manual keyboard and screen-reader pass. It is not a legal certification.
Can it tell if ChatGPT or Perplexity can see my site?+
Yes. The AI search visibility check reads your robots.txt for ChatGPT (OAI-SearchBot, GPTBot), Perplexity, Claude, Google and other AI crawlers, flags content that only appears after JavaScript runs (most AI crawlers don't execute it), checks llms.txt and structured data, and generates a ready robots.txt block and llms.txt file.
Can it write the fixes for me?+
It hands them to your AI editor. Every issue has a Copy AI fix prompt button that copies the problem, the exact elements, the WCAG rule or check, and a suggested fix in a format Cursor, Claude Code, or ChatGPT can act on. Pro can copy every issue on the page as one prompt. Free lets you try it on the first issue.
Does it check speed and launch basics?+
Yes. Pro measures Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) on the live tab and names the slow element or layout shift, with real-user field data from Google when your site has enough traffic. The pre-launch checklist covers HTTPS redirects, security headers, privacy and terms links, cookie consent, analytics, a real 404 page, robots.txt, sitemap, and share images. The keyboard focus-order overlay numbers every tab stop on the page and flags missing focus styles.
Who is it for?+
Freelancers, indie hackers, and agencies shipping sites or landing pages. Use it on localhost, staging, or a live client URL — no pasting into another tool.
What is free vs Pro?+
Free: SERP snippet, title & description, viewport/charset, title vs H1, share preview, headings, images, link count, site icon, a preview of accessibility, AI visibility, Core Web Vitals, focus order and launch checklist results, a 3-page site scan, and one AI fix prompt. Pro adds the full WCAG 2.2 accessibility audit with fixes and Accessibility Statement, AI search visibility with llms.txt generator, AI fix prompts for every issue, Core Web Vitals with attribution, the keyboard focus-order overlay, the full pre-launch checklist, a 25-page site-wide accessibility and AI scan, white-label PDF/Markdown reports (agency logo + name), before/after finding snapshots, capped multi-page crawl (up to 50), search readiness (robots.txt, sitemap, headers), broken links & dead anchors, live overlays, CSV checklists, schema fields, staging compare, mixed content, a11y basics, full score, and future Pro tools.
Do I need an account?+
No. Free needs no signup. Pro is a one-time purchase — after checkout you paste the license key in the extension to unlock.
Is Pro a subscription?+
No. $20 once for lifetime Pro, including product updates. No monthly plan.
How do I activate Pro?+
Buy Lifetime Access, pay on Dodo checkout, then check your email for the license key. In the Shipcheck side panel choose Enter license key, paste it, and activate.
Does it crawl my whole site?+
Core checks run on the active tab. Pro can crawl up to 50 same-origin pages discovered from that tab and export an aggregate CSV, and the site-wide scan runs the full accessibility and AI search checks on up to 25 pages (3 on Free) to show which issues repeat across the site. It is not an unlimited full-site crawler. Broken-link scanning and staging compare stay scoped to the URLs you choose.
Will it work on localhost and staging?+
Yes. It runs on whatever tab you open — localhost, staging, logged-in previews, and production.
Can I send reports to clients?+
Yes with Pro. Export a white-label QA report as PDF or Markdown with your agency name and logo, hide Shipcheck branding, and attach before/after progress plus multi-page crawl results — plus broken-link checks, overlays, search readiness, staging compare, and full score.
Does it use AI?+
No. Checks are rule-based on the live page (plus a few network fetches for robots.txt, llms.txt and search signals). Nothing is sent to an LLM. AI fix prompts are copied to your clipboard; you choose where to paste them.
