Which schema should I use?
- Organization on your home page: name, logo, and social profiles.
- SoftwareApplication for SaaS, apps, and browser extensions.
- Product for anything with a price and a buy button.
- Article for blog posts and guides.
- LocalBusiness for businesses with an address customers visit.
One page can include more than one type. Keep the markup consistent with what the page shows.

What is schema markup?
Structured data in JSON-LD format that helps search engines understand what a page is about: your company, a product and its price, an article and its author. Eligible pages can earn rich results such as stars, prices, and logos, though Google decides when to show them.
Where do I paste the JSON-LD?
Anywhere in the HTML, usually in <head>. In Next.js, render it as a <script type="application/ld+json"> in your page component. In WordPress, use a header-scripts plugin or your SEO plugin's custom schema field.
Can I add ratings I collected elsewhere?
No. Google's guidelines forbid marking up ratings aggregated from other websites. Only mark up reviews collected on your own site and visible on the page, and self-serving reviews of your own business are not eligible for stars.
Does schema help with ChatGPT and Perplexity?
It can help systems that read structured data understand entities, prices, and authorship without guessing. Google says no special schema is required for AI Overviews. Make sure AI crawlers can reach the page too: check it with our AI crawler checker.
