XML sitemap validator
Paste your site or sitemap URL. We find the XML sitemap, count page URLs, check robots.txt, and sample whether listed pages respond.
What we check
- Whether a sitemap is discoverable from the site or a direct .xml URL
- How many same-host page URLs are listed
- Whether robots.txt declares a Sitemap: line
- HTTP status for a small sample of listed URLs
Questions
Is this the same as the Pro sitemap audit?
No. This free tool finds the sitemap, counts URLs, and samples a few pages. Pro sitemap audit checks titles, descriptions, OG, and canonicals on up to 200 pages.
What if I paste my homepage?
We look for Sitemap: lines in robots.txt, then try /sitemap.xml and /sitemap_index.xml. You can also paste the sitemap URL directly.
Why are some URLs missing from the count?
We count same-host page URLs and skip image, PDF, and other asset locs. Large sitemap indexes may only be partially read.
Does a valid sitemap guarantee indexing?
No. Submit it in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, keep pages indexable, and fix soft 404s and noindex issues separately.
